Chalet Shalom is an indie/folk band comprised of Vincent Colbert and Ethan Daum. The two met in 2010 while living in the same apartment complex in Austin, Texas. They wrote the song "Courage" (released in 2011 on their debut EP "Light") during their first jam session, and quickly realized how closely their background, musical influences, and playing style aligned. Vince and Ethan have been influenced by many of the same artists, including Elliott Smith, Joseph Arthur, Nick Drake, Blind Pilot, The Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens, and Radiohead. The two considered themselves a band within just a week of writing and recording songs in Ethan's home studio.
So what's next for Chalet Shalom? Vince and Ethan are excited about the release of their debut full-length album, and are in the process of planning a Spring 2013 tour through the Midwest, and a Fall tour through the southwest. Vince is currently studying audio engineering at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, MI and has recently pieced together a professional home studio. Although Ethan still lives in Austin and Vince is in Ann Arbor, the two continue to write and record, now with the option of recording in either state, and using DropBox to share files. They also travel back and forth often to perform and tour together. Look for many more recordings and performances to come from this prolific duo!
